This Strange Realm Of Mine (REALM) is a First Person Shooter mixed with Poetry and Psychological-Horror. The art style is an homage to old-school games like DOOM.
In REALM you explore your afterlife. You'll travel through dreamlike scenarios where you come across characters in various predicaments. Encounters with monsters and enemies are frequent. There are several ways to deal with them, ranging from guns to melee weapons. Be ready to get your hands dirty and watch the blood run slowly from the walls.
You'll also meet Ulrich, a spiritual guide who'll take you through your experience as a lost soul. His tavern is a safe-haven, for you and the potential friends you make along the way.
Solo developer Wildemar took inspiration from classic games like DOOM, Mario, Gradius and other games from his childhood. REALM, like DOOM, definitely has the violence and blood down, but is completely different in other aspects. For instance, the game is filled with poetry in-between levels, loosely explaining the story. You'll also meet some odd characters and have deep discussions about life, death and anything in-between.
The game switches pace and genre from level to level, but the main focus lies in good old FPS combat.
Quote from Wildemar: "Initially I didn't know exactly how the game would play out, or how the story would progress. I just started working on the main mechanics and let the game build itself as I went. Many of the scenarios and philosophical questions that REALM bring up are directly related to my personal thoughts and dream experiences. As an avid lucid dreamer: dreams and dream-states have been an endless source of inspiration for me."

In hopes of giving people who're stuck in a bad place, a new view on life. I am no stranger to mental health issues like depression and anxiety, and I have recovered by changing the way I look at life. Also, I wanted to give people a different experience and inspire more people to experiment and diverge from conventional gaming and storytelling."
